It’s vacation time in Truckee, California but you aren’t sure where to stay. Hopefully by the end of this article, you will have a better idea of the perfect vacation lodging choice for you.
VACATIONING TIME OF YEAR
Let’s start with the time of year that you are visiting Truckee, CA. Our summers are most popular between June and August because 
the kids are out of school. If you want to have Tahoe more to yourself, I suggest visiting in September or October. That time of year has a nice peaceful, fall beauty to it with lots of great deal on everything from lodging to activities.
Another busy time of year for us is winter. Our winter season kicks off around Thanksgiving, at least we try to kick it off by then. Really mother nature is in charge. If mother nature cooperates the skiing will be available from Thanksgiving through March and maybe even into April. After that, it is anyone’s guess.
ACTIVITIES IN TRUCKEE TAHOE
If you are looking to stay somewhere in Truckee with a pool, tennis courts, cross country and down hill skiing nearby, then you will want to stay in one of three areas Northstar at Tahoe Vacation Rentals, Squaw Valley Vacation Rentals or Tahoe Donner Vacation Rentals. All three of these areas provide those amenities with easy access.
Tahoe Donner is near downtown Truckee and also has a private beach on Donner Lake. All the homes in that development belong to the association and as a guest of a rental home, you will be granted access to their beach, pools, tennis courts and gym for a guest fee. Their ski hill is more for beginners or family and they have some great ski programs for the little ones.
Staying at a vacation rental in the Northstar Village means that you can walk to the ski hill, mountain biking trails, tennis courts, swimming and more. You can also lounge in their village without the use of your car. However, if you want to visit Truckee or Lake Tahoe, you will need transportation.
