Tahoe Donner is by far my favorite place in Truckee. It could be because I grew up with a house there or it could be because my kids love it so much! I love staying in Tahoe Donner because there are two fabulous pools (one has a slide). It is also very peaceful, except on those busy holiday weekends, because most of the homes are second home owners and are empty the majority of the time.
I love to go out on a walk in Tahoe Donner and be virtually alone, except your occasional deer. It is so beautiful to see wild animals lurking around the beautiful trees and you are walking on asphalt – yes I am part city girl.
I love to walk on the trails in Tahoe Donner which are easy, great for kids and beautiful.
In the winter, the cross country ski area in Tahoe Donner is amazing with lots of trails and is a simple way to enjoy the snow. In the summer this becomes horse stables.
Another part of Tahoe Donner that my family loves is the private beach. It is really great to go down to the beach in the late afternoon and have a BBQ on the beach or go down sometime in the morning or afternoon and sit out in the beautiful sun, surrounded by gorgeous mountains and let your kids play in the sand.
The amenities in Tahoe Donner make it worth it for me to stay and live in that area of Truckee.
