Lakes in Tahoe

Serene Lakes

Serene  Lakes are five beautiful lakes located on Donner Summit off of I-80 high above Truckee, CA.  These five lakes are called:  Cascade Lakes, Kidd Lake, Long Lake, Ice Lakes and Palisades Lake

The lakes are all of of the Soda Springs exit on I-80 as you are driving in from the bay area.

There are no motor boats allowed on any of these lakes but you can kayak and fish. Some of the fish you can catch here include catfish, rainbow trout and brook trout.

Kidd Lake has a ten camp sites for group camping, each site can accommodate up to ten people.

As far as hiking, it is stunning to hike anywhere in the high sierras.

My sister in law lived in the area for years and I must confess that I have never spent any time on the lakes, but I plan to do some hiking there this summer.  I love the sierras!

Fallen Leaf Lake

Fallen Leaf Lake is another place I intend on visiting this summer.  While I know a lot about the lake and have heard stunning reviews from everyone, I haven’t been there yet … I will update this blog as soon as I visit in late June.

The lake is so beautiful that it is listed in the Wikipedia, so I would be remiss if I didn’t link to the description.

Marlette Lake

Marlette Lake is one of those lakes where you see a turn off when you are driving to Reno from the Incline Village area.  This is another lake that I intend to visit this summer and try the flume trail, a 13 mile trail that starts in Spooner Lake and ends in Incline Village.  Here is some more information on the Flume Trail
