Jackson Meadows
Jackson Meadows Reservoir, located inside the Tahoe National Forest is a great place to camp, fish, hike, mountain bike or (in the winter) ride snow mobiles. It takes about 20 minutes down highway 89 towards Susanville from Truckee, CA. Suddenly, a turn off will appear on your left side and you take that for another fifteen minutes.
My family likes to camp at Jackson Meadows and take their boat out fishing. My husband has also been on some pretty challenging mountain biking trails with his brother in law, who is a mountain biking crazy man.
In the winter, they don’t plow the access road, so it becomes a great place to go snow mobiling. You can just park your truck at the entrance and head on down the road on your snow mobile. As with any snow mobile adventure, make sure you bring safety equipment, water, food and a way to contact people should something happen.
